Are you ready for Fall to begin?
I can't wait. Although it's still hot here in Nashville, I've noticed some signs of Autumn approaching - crimson and gold leaves scattering the sidewalks on my morning strolls, Halloween decorations out for sale at big box stores, and the neighborhood kids walking to school each morning with backpacks that hang awkwardly from their little shoulders.
I've put together a list of self-care reminders as we head further into August and the season begins to change. Let me know which one resonates with you the most!
-------
Cooler temps are coming...

...which means you can escape the Summer heat and start enjoying time outside again! If you're in Nashville like me, you know the heat can literally affect your ability to function, which makes it hard to enjoy outdoor activities unless it's before 8 AM. Cooler weather means more relaxing outside and connecting to nature, which always helps me feel more centered.
Be Mindful of the Shifting Seasons

When the seasons start to shift I'm always reminded that, just like nature, we all go through changes. Paying attention to how the Earth takes time to rest and reset presents an opportunity to rest and reset ourselves. Take a cue from nature and reconnect to your inner-wisdom by journalling, reflecting, or taking time to rest.
Now Is A Time for New Beginnings

If you need a reason to reset or start something again, here it is! We all deserve the time and space for second chances. Give yourself the grace and self-compassion to revisit something you've been wanting to go back to or to let go of something you've been holding onto for too long.
Reflect on The Close of Summer

Now is a great time to reflect on your Summer - what did you enjoy most? Did you learn anything new? Did you explore a new art form or a new city? Writing these things down and reflecting on how your Summer was, good or bad, is a powerful self-care activity that can help you untangle your thoughts and feelings.
Take Time to Rest

If you're feeling pressure to be extra productive as we enter Fall, here's your reminder that rest is also productive. We all need time to rest and recoup amidst the chaos of school work, to-do lists, and managing our schedules. Take cues from your body and listen when it tells you it's time for a break.
Whatever You're Feeling Is Okay

And last but not least, your feelings are valid. It's okay to cry, to be mad, to be anxious - all of it is an opportunity to connect to your inner-wisdom and see what you really need. You are the expert of your body, your mind, your life. You have the power to validate your own feelings and trust that they are important.
