5 Spring Time Self-Care Activities

Spring is my favorite time of year.

 I love watching the seasons change with the budding flowers and emerging sunshine. It's a great time to get outside and enjoy some self-care.

Here are 5 ways you can get outside and do something kind for yourself, featuring some illustrations I've hand drawn for you.

 

Go on a nature walk

Being outside and enjoying the spring weather feels good because it's good for you. Being in nature helps reduce stress, anxiety, and mental fatigue. Going for a nature walk can provide a mental reset, allowing your mind to relax.

Soak up the sun

I always miss the sunshine during the winter. Sunshine helps us produce Vitamin D, which is mood boosting and important for bone health. Being out in the sun on a regular basis also helps us regulate our circadian rhythm, which can improve sleep and energy levels. No wonder I feel some pep in my step when spring roles around!

Draw from real life

Now is a great time to get outside with your sketchbook. Drawing is great for relaxation and mindfulness, but when you also connect it to nature it can help us appreciate our surroundings and remember how beautiful life is. This exercise can help us slow down, be creative, and practice gratitude

Go for a bike ride

Riding a bike is a low-impact way to get some exercise! If you don't own one, many cities now have rentable bikes you can use at parks or tourist areas. Riding a bike is a great way to get outside, enjoy nature, and get some endorphins. 

Plant some wild flowers

Planting wild flowers is a great way to help your local community and your mental health. Wildflowers attract pollinators like bees, butterflies, and birds, which supports local ecosystems. Growing and caring for wildflowers can also reduce stress and promote relaxation. A win win!
