Spooky season is one of my favorite times of year! It's finally starting to feel and look like fall here in Nashville - cool, cloudy weather, pumpkins on porches, and the smell of bon fires on the weekends. I am feeling excited about the changes this new season will bring.
Here are some self-care reminders for you as we continue on through October!

Don't Be Afraid to Be Yourself

This reminder makes me think of my 3 year old, who is in her princess era right now. She loves wearing dresses and heels and crowns, which I totally support. It's a good reminder that leaning into what really makes you feel good is the best way to live life. I encourage you to lean into what makes you feel most like you this season.
It's Okay to Feel Scared Sometimes

There are always things in life that will scare us, but it's important to face our fears some of the time. If you are dealing with a scary situation, I encourage you to get curious about the parts of you that feel scared. Get curious about them and what they may need from you to face these fears.
Enjoy the Little Things

The change in seasons always brings familiar reminders of things I love about fall and Halloween. I love seeing the neighborhood participate in the spooky vibes, sharing the magic of trick-or-treating with my daughter, and seeing familiar faces on walks outside enjoying the cooler weather. These seasonal reminders are a great way to reconnect with nature and offer yourself some self-care.
Make Time for Loved Ones

Halloween is a great time to pay respects to loved ones that have passed, just like the Mexican culture does through Day of the Dead as well as Samhain, a Scottish Gaelic festival. It can be a healthy way to process grief and connect with those who are no longer with us physically, but who we may still be connected to spiritually.
It's Okay to Ask for What You Need

Now is a great time to reconnect with your goals and ambitions. The changing seasons can bring a new sense of energy, allowing you space to reflect and reassess. If you make quarterly goals, go back and check the progress you've made. You can also ask yourself if your goals still feel in line with what you'd like to accomplish this year or next year.
It's Okay to Rest

It's also possible that, with the changing seasons, you may feel a need to rest and reset. This is natural and helpful, given how energetic and eventful the summer season can be. If you feel called to make more time for rest, it may be your body syncing up with the natural rhythm of fall. Although our culture pushes us to be productive and fruitful year round, nature reminds us that there is always a need for rest.
